Original Pilates® is the exact methodology
taught to Mary Pilates by her uncle Joseph H. Pilates. Mary is the
only living Pilates that ever taught in
the New York studio and she is dedicated to preserving the original
techniques and
legacy of her Uncle Joseph.
Fran Perel is proud to be amongst the elite
few that has been trained by a real Pilates Elder. Her studio, Parkland
Pilates, teaches Pilates in its original form, Original Pilates® and
the first studio in the world having successfully demonstrated necessary
skills in the techniques as originally taught by Joseph H. Pilates
and certified by his niece, living legend Mary Pilates.
Pilates quickly tones and shapes and increases strength,
flexibility, balance and coordination without weights or exhausting
workouts. It will make you look and feel more youthful and fit both
inside and out. Pilates has proven itself to be the modern day fountain
of youth.
Pilates is beneficial to everyone and will improve
your abilities in all sports, including golf and tennis, as well as
enhance all other daily activities you participate in. Pilates is
not just "exercise," but a complete body conditioning and balancing
system that will make you feel refreshed -- not exhausted and give
you a sense of both physical and emotional well being.
The fact is there is only one form of Original Pilates®,
but over the years Pilates has "evolved" into many separate types.
Some instructors and/or gyms are calling what they do "Pilates," but
in fact are just teaching yoga, mat science or have taken bits and
pieces of Pilates and combined this into their own routines. If it
is not exactly what Joseph H. Pilates taught in his New York Studio,
it isn't Original Pilates® and the results can be variable,
unpredictable or not work at all.
Pilates has been endorsed by physicians worldwide
and is also used by some as a form of physical therapy. It conditions
the entire body without stress to the joints.
